Types of Trauma: Physical Abuse

Physical abuse is harmful, unwanted assault on the body. It has more to do with the sense of invasion and loss of control of one's body, than the actual harm that is done. It can be relatively mild force, or brutal and life threatening. Although the act of choking is often discounted, it can cause permanent injury, long term hoarseness and death can suddenly follow days later. Choking, like any serious assault, can be legally prosecuted as an “attempted murder”.
