I have over twenty years providing therapy and helping clients experience healing and wholeness. I specialize in treating trauma, complex PTSD, and dissociative disorders including DID. I have found EMDR to be the most effective method for treating trauma and I use it extensively. Not only does EMDR address trauma issues, I have also found it effective in addressing many concerns including performance enhancement. It is exciting to see clients begin to experience relief using EMDR in a relatively few sessions. Many clients share similar statements as this one told me; "That was really something. Wow! I don't even think about it anymore, whereas before it was always there in the back of my mind."
I am a member of EMDRIA, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Disassociation (ISST-D) and the American More >>> Psychological Association (APA). In addition to EMDR training I received extensive training from the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute in treating trauma.
I help people find transformational and positive change in their life. I view counseling as a collaborative experience and a safe place where self-discovery, learning, and healing takes place. To help you, I need to get to know you and to understand your feelings and experiences as much as possible. The key to effective counseling is providing a safe place where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a positive and non-judgmental atmosphere. I will listen to you, help you clarify your thoughts and feelings, and help you to begin to gain a better understanding of yourself. We will select goals or objectives together that will help you become the person you want or experience the relief you seek.
More info about my practice: My special focus is helping people recover from traumatic experiences in their life. I help people take back control of their lives by providing a safe place and the tools necessary to acknowledge the trauma, reprocess it, and integrate it back into their lives so that it no longer controls them. I help you stay grounded in the present while reprocessing the trauma, paying particular attention to your body, movements, your emotions, and your beliefs about yourself and what happened. I have found EMDR to be particularly helpful in helping clients reprocess their trauma.
