Does my child have PTSD or ADD/ADHD?
In children, the symptoms of PTSD may be expressed by disorganized or agitated behavior. Without a proper evaluation of your child's history, including invasive medical procedures, exposure to domestic violence, TV and video violence and other traumatic events, PTSD, which is an anxiety disorder, might be mistaken for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).
Please consult with a child therapist who is familiar with the unique symptoms of trauma to do an evaluation for your child. If exposure to trauma is an issue with your child, EMDR therapy may be very helpful.
